Breast Cancer Fund Drive 2015

Every October Empire gears up for their biggest fundraiser of the year - to help fight Breast Cancer. Here is a snippet of the article that was written by the Fosters newspaper about the fundraiser;
 This year Empire Beauty Schools paid it forward by presenting a check to a graduate who is battling cancer.
Stephanie Jennings graduated in 1996 and has worked in the industry ever since.
Matthew Lambert, General Manager for Empire, said Jennings worked for the family for many years, loves the business, and has been an ambassador for the business.
“Stephanie doesn’t talk about what is going wrong; she talks about what is going right,” Lambert said. “She focuses on the positive and how she is going to beat this.”
The founder of the school, Norman Langlois, could not be at the ceremony, but sent a video message saying he was proud of all the money the school raised. He sent Jennings a check for $1,000.
Empire Marketing Manager Donna Demers, who is Langlois' daughter, presented a check to Jennings for $4,000 from the fundraisers the students and staff held during the fall.
Jennings said it was amazing to see how much people had come together.
“The love from all the people is awesome, I thank you for putting in that effort and doing this for me,” Jennings said. “And I am going to beat it.”
Jennings has been out of work since the end of August. Demers said it is hard for hair designers when they are out of work as they don’t typically have sick leave and also lose out because part of their income is based on commissions and gratuities.
Demers said several of their campuses took part in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and did fundraising at the school by selling buttons, pins and ribbons, and baked goods.
“We have many of what we call caring and sharing events,” Demers said. “In October we did our cancer awareness and fundraising for people battling cancer.”
