Phase 1 starts with professional development, which focuses on the requirements needed to practice becoming a professional cosmetologist.  Theory and hands-on learning about hair facts, scalp and hair treatments, hair removal, sanitation, haircutting, long hair designing and aspects of the service cycle are included in Phase 1.

*All chapters throughout the curriculum are delivered in the order of theory lecture/instructor demonstration/student applications on mannequins followed by clinical applications.

Mens or Ladies hair sculpture follow applications of hair color & lightening.
Theories and applications of skin, massage, and make-up along with manicuring and pedicuring are skills gained in Phase 2.

Skills gained in Phase 3 include permanent waving, chemical texturizing,   theory of chemistry, study of people skills and preparing for State Board examinations 

Skills gained in Phase 4 include knowledge of the human body (anatomy & physiology), and knowledge of electricity (the salon has many electrical appliances).  Additional concentration in people skills and State Board licensing requirements.

Skills gained in Phase 5 include preparing the learner for industry entry.    Students will study wigs and hair additions, salon operations, preparation in seeking and obtaining employment, intense practice in Mock State Board exams, and advanced training using Design Forums which focus on salon techniques. 

**Students may be scheduled to attend already-taken theory classes to review and prepare for Final Course Exam.
