Prior to coming to school at Empire, Amber Surette was going to school for education and working at a daycare. Amber decided to go to Empire because "I needed a break from all those kids! This was also one of my favorite things to do" says Amber. When Amber came here she was very shy and she gives Empire credit for helping her to overcome her fear of talking to people and now feels confident talking with clients.
She said, "I feel Empire has changed my life and made me a lot more aware of what I want in life and where I'm headed".
Asked to give a few words of wisdom, Amber replies "Stick it out. It may seem long and hard in the beginning but it's worth it!!! It has been so much fun!!".
I was a preschool teacher and loved my job very much but the pay left something to be desired. I started at Empire evenings in July 2005.
I have always had a thing for hair. I used to set up my own beauty salon and did my sisters hair when I was little. I was always the one to do hair for the proms and other formal events.
My husband left for Afghanistan towards the end of my schooling, he was the one who motivated me.
